-Inspect & exercise water valves
-Replace missing or damaged valve operating nuts
-Valve box top section repairs
-Water storage tank cleaning and disinfection
-Disinfection of pipelines
-Pressure reducing & air relief valve inspection, maintenance, and repair
This entails removing cast iron lid from a valve box, placing a valve key onto the valve operating nut and exercising the valve by closing and opening the valve until fully cycled several times. If the valve box is filled with debris prohibiting access to the valve operating nut, the valve box is cleaned out using a high-pressure washer and a large vacuum. We can also employ the use of hydraulic operators for difficult valves. No excavation or confined space entry is required.
Replacing rounded or missing valve operating nuts requires specialized equipment that allows the technician to reach into the valve box to remove a hold-down nut/bolt, remove the damaged operating nut and replace it. No excavation or confined space entry is required.
Occasionally a water valve box will be damaged due to accidents or street maintenance. In the past this required the utility to excavate the valve box to replace it. TW Summit has equipment to replace these broken top-sections without the need to excavate. Traffic is always a consideration, therefore crews use warning/strobe/overhead lights on vehicles and are capable of properly setting up work zones. No excavation or confined space entry is required.
Hydrant programs include observing appearance and accessibility. The hydrant is maintained to the specific manufacturer recommendations. The hydrant is opened and flowed using a pressure diffuser to eliminate property or vehicle damage from high pressure\volume water. A dechlorinating diffuser is used to remove chlorine residual to prevent contamination of state waters. The hydrant auxiliary valve receives the same high-quality attention as a mainline valve.
Fire hydrant repair consists of isolating the hydrant from the water distribution system by closing the auxiliary valve, disassembling the hydrant to repair, replace broken parts, including traffic flanges and returning the hydrant back to service.
Full hydrant painting services include preparing the hydrant by scraping and/or pressure washing. Specialized paint is used to ensure the best results. Our paint team is highly skilled, and results are A+!
The water tank is isolated from the water system and drained. The walls and floor are cleaned using high pressure water and the entire tank is disinfected with a 200 mg\l chlorine solution, meeting AWWA Standards C652. Crews are trained and certified in Confined Spaces and relevant safety procedures. TWS is also able to provide a Comprehensive Tank Inspection per CDPHE Section 11.28 Storage Tank Rule Regulation No. 11 (5 CCR 1002-11).
This service provides disinfections of water pipes by injecting a predetermined concentration of free chlorine to meet the requirements of AWWA Standard C651 and EPA guidelines. This is required prior to putting water pipe into service for potable use.
PRV and ARV inspections require entry into a buried vault or manhole to inspect, adjust, and/or make repairs. Crews are trained and certified in Confined Spaces and relevant safety procedures. Confined space procedures require a permit and an observer trained in confined space entry.
